Some simple daily morning rituals that I like to practice

I’ve decided to share a little blog on what rituals I like to practice as a part of my morning routine. As a busy single mother, sometimes I just don’t have enough time to practice elaborate rituals… they take time and planning! I have however implemented these simple little rituals into my morning routine and this is what works well for me. I always set out for my day positive and vibing high! Every morning I set my alarm to wake me at least half an hour before my son will wake so that I can set myself up to be at my very best! And yes… of course there are times when that hasn’t gone to plan, in these cases I just let him join in if he’d like to.

I like to begin my day by walking barefoot on the grass… I am lucky enough to have a field behind my home. It is always so peaceful here with lots of little chirpy birds enjoying the morning! This is my favourite place to ground as I can feed the birds while our gigantic, full-of-beans Labrador stretches his lanky legs! Grounding, dog exercise and bird feeding… clearly I’m a multitasking little witch!
I have a wall beside my workspace where I have hung up photographs of all of my loved ones who’ve departed the physical world-my ancestor wall. I’ll sit down with my tea and wish them a good morning, sometimes I’ll speak to them more than others but I like to see all of those precious faces. I like them to be right beside me while I practice my craft, while I work, while I journal… this is the space where I will spend most of my time so it’s important to me that I can see them.

Before sitting down I like to light a candle-usually one of my Salem’s Shack intention tealight candles and I will also light some incense. I choose this based on how I feel and what vibes I’m wanting to attract. My little son actually calls incense sticks my vibes! He’ll say “mummy are you going to light some vibes?” He’s very cute and he actually loves the smell of incense.

At this point I will usually do a little meditation while my incense is burning. Depending on how much time I have… this can be a simple five minute meditation or a fifty minute meditation, I do like to fit even a short five minutes in though to clear my mind and enter a calm and centred space. I also like to visualise my son, my dog, my cat and myself surrounded by a protective light that will stay with us, protecting us throughout our day.

I love to burn rosemary and waft the smoke all around my body/aura, all around my workspace and of course my altar. Rosemary is absolutely one of my favourite witchy botanicals, it grows abundantly in my garden and I could and perhaps someday will dedicate an entire blog to it!

Every morning I pull one tarot card, this is a little ritual that I never skip as it is something that I really enjoy, like having a morning date with an old friend! I always use my original deck for this-my trusted friend of thirty years, we know each other and this is one friend who never lies! I do have a huge collection of tarot decks and oracle cards that I don’t use very often! I don’t know if anyone else does this… but I can’t help myself I just have to buy that pretty new deck then feel so disconnected and almost guilty, I just want my original deck! My final step of morning rituals is to record my tarot pull, I find this so incredibly interesting, satisfying and insightful to look back on.
This is my morning ritual/routine, I love to begin my mornings this way it brings me peace and positivity. I really do love the morning time where I can take this time to myself to set myself up for a great day and appreciate the little things… the birds, my overwhelmingly happy dog, Salem-my shadow dwelling goblin cat!, the energy of the sun rising, the scent of incense and it’s curling smoke, swirling its way into the morning air, the precious faces of my ancestors smiling to me, being at one with myself and my thoughts and of course that morning date with my old and trusted friend! Then the true magic happens when my little boy wakes up from his slumber and bounces down the stairs so happy, for no other reason than that he is here and ready for a good morning hug! I am in love with living and all of this, especially that little boy is pure magic!
May your days be filled with magic!
Blessed be 🖤🐈⬛
